Virtuous BI offers robust editing, viewing, and publishing capabilities to both explorers and viewers. These options can be accessed on the bottom right-hand corner of the workbook.
Before diving into editing and publishing, here are a few important points:
- Creating a Report: Before you can edit or publish in Virtuous BI, you need to create a BI report. For more details on how to create a report, please refer to Creating a Report.
- Admin Permissions: Only admin users have the permissions to edit and publish content.
Editing Options
When selecting the Editing button, several options will appear, including Preview as explorer, Preview as viewer, Go to published version, and Discard draft.
Preview as explorer: Allows explorers to access and review changes before making them live, ensuring accuracy before publishing.
Preview as viewer: Enables viewers to access published analyses or dashboards to view insights and data visualizations. Viewers cannot edit but can interact with published content including:
- Filtering: Users can apply filters to the data to narrow down the information displayed.
- Exporting: Users can export the data or reports for further analysis.
- Scheduling Reports: Users can schedule reports to be generated and sent at specific intervals.
Last published version: Reverts to the latest published version of the workbook by switching into Explore mode.
- Note: Your drafted changes are not lost in Virtuous BI when selecting this option. You can revisit the current draft anytime by clicking the Edit button on the bottom right-hand corner of the published version.
- Note: You may need to select 'reset' button, available in the bottom bar near the 'publish' and 'edit' options. Selecting this will reset the workbook back to is last published state in edit view.
- Discard draft: Removes all users' unpublished changes.
Publishing Changes
To publish your edits, click the blue Publish button located in the bottom right-hand corner of the workbook. This action publishes all drafted changes to the workbook.
