If your organization is using Virtuous CRM and ViewSpark as a paired solution to build and maintain relationships with your Donors, you'll be able to connect the two platforms! With this integration enabled, information will move between the two platforms to keep an updated view in both. As your team uses ViewSpark to deliver personalized video messages, these footprints will be logged in Virtuous. As your team adds Contacts to Virtuous, those records can automatically sync to ViewSpark. This article will provide guidance for the setup process and best practices for continued management.

Setting Up the Integration
The initial set up process and continued management of this integration is handled in the ViewSpark platform. There are a few steps that need to be taken in Virtuous to ensure the sync functions properly.
Retrieve API Key
The information you will need to access in Virtuous to set up the integration will be an API Key. To access your API Key navigate to Settings > Connectivity > API Keys
Create New Tag
You need to create the "No_ViewSpark" Tag before setting up and enabling this integration. This Tag will be referenced as an exclusion to keep specific Contact records from syncing to ViewSpark.
For guidance on creating a new Tag in Virtuous, check out this Support Article.
What Data Initially Syncs During Set Up?
During the initial set up process, you will be asked to select which Tags in Virtuous will be synced to ViewSpark. All Contact records that have the selected Tags will then sync to ViewSpark as long as they have one Communication Method on file, either an Email Address or Phone Number.
What Data Syncs After the Integration is Set Up?
After the integration is initially set up, data will start to move between ViewSpark and Virtuous.
Virtuous to ViewSpark
- New Contacts - Contacts added to an imported Virtuous Tag are created in ViewSpark
- Updated Contacts - Updates to imported Contacts are reflected in ViewSpark
- New Gifts - When a Gift is added to an imported Virtuous Contact, ViewSpark sends push and email notifications to the assigned Thank You Admins (ViewSpark User). Gift records are NOT stored in ViewSpark.
ViewSpark to Virtuous
- Communications - When a ViewSpark message is sent to an imported Contact, a Note with the Custom Note Type of "ViewSpark Email" is added to the Virtuous Contact record with the date, time, and a link to the message.
- Gifts - Gift records processed through ViewSpark are pushed through the Gift and Contact Import Tool to be reviewed and imported as any other incoming Gift.
Best Practices for Managing Unsubscribed Contacts
When a Contact receives a ViewSpark message and opts to unsubscribe, this update will sync to Virtuous as an Alert Note marked as "Important" with the unsubscribe details. You can then use Virtuous Automation to assign the "No_ViewSpark" Tag to discontinue the sync for the records by using the Alert Note Type and the exact unsubscribe verbiage to target the appropriate Contacts.
