Many organizations rely on peer-to-peer campaigns as a way to expand their reach and maximize their fundraising impact. Whether your supporters are hosting their own birthday fundraisers or recruiting their friends and family to join them in a run/walk event, in today's connected, hyper-personalized world, peer-to-peer fundraising can be a great way to bring new people to your cause and achieve your goals.
In Virtuous, you can track the success of your peer to peer supporters by linking a Contact with a Segment. Once you do, you'll see the amount a Contact has raised listed directly on their record.
Adding a Fundraiser to a Segment
From the Campaigns page, select the Campaign where you'd like to add a Segment and then select the Campaign Communication where you will add the Segment. (Quick tip: you can learn more about the Virtuous Campaign structure in this article 👍) Click on the Actions button in the upper-right and then select "Add Segment."
ON the new Segment form, you'll need to enter a name and unique code for your new Segment. You'll also see the option to specify a Fundraiser.
Click and then begin typing to search for an existing Contact to set them as the peer to peer fundraiser for your new Segment. You may also choose to edit an existing Segment and add a Fundraiser.
Adding a Segment from a Contact Record
You can also add a fundraiser to a Segment directly from a Contact record. Navigate to the Giving tab on their record, and in the lower right, any existing peer to peer Segments associated with the Contact will be listed. If there are none, you'll see the option to add a Segment.
Click on the add button to link a Segment with the Contact. You'll have two options.
You can search for and select an existing Segment to set the current Contact as the Fundraiser. When searching, any Segment that already has a Fundraiser identified will not be returned in search results.
Select the "Create a New Segment" tab to create a brand new Segment and set the current Contact as the fundraiser. You'll need to specify the existing Campaign Communication for your Segment and provide a Segment Name and a unique Segment Code in order to create a new Segment.
Viewing Peer to Peer Giving
Once you have set a Contact as the Fundraiser for a Segment, any Gifts received for that Segment will be credited as being "raised" by the Fundraiser. On the Giving tab of a Contact record, you can select the "Peer to Peer/Influenced" tab to see all Gifts raised by that Contact.
You can also select the Peer to Peer Overview widget in the Contact header to be able to view peer to peer statistics at a glance.
There are also a number of "raised" statistics that can be used in queries to identify Contacts based on their fundraising success.
