What is the Difference Between Payments, Virtuous Giving, and Legacy RaiseDonors?

When using the products offered by Virtuous Software to process online donations there are a few different terms to understand. This article will provide details on the difference between Virtuous Payments, Virtuous Giving, Legacy RaiseDonors and Virtuous Raise

Payments

The main aspect to highlight of Payments is that it is NOT a giving app. Payments is an online payment gateway for giving platforms such as Virtuous Giving and Virtuous Raise.

Payments is an integrated payment management app built to give your nonprofit the control necessary over gift processing and reconciliation. This is combined with 24/7 security and fraud protection, cost-saving processing rates, and hands-on support by the Virtuous team from day one on.

Essentially, Virtuous Payments is where the credit (or debit) card information is stored. It's the power behind your giving app that allows you to accept electronic payments. Virtuous Payments is powered by Stripe as the payment processor.

Virtuous Giving

Virtuous Giving is our integrated giving app. It gives you the ability to create online giving and membership forms as well as process credit card transactions directly in the Gift and Contact Import Tool. Additionally, a Donor Portal is available where donors can see their giving history and manage their payment methods and recurring gifts. Combining Virtuous CRM+ with Virtuous Giving allows for a seamless experience for donors and Virtuous CRM+ Users. This includes the ability to edit Recurring Gift schedules, and assign Segment Codes and Project designations as a default to incoming gifts within Virtuous CRM+. Additionally, Custom Fields can be included in Giving Forms to allow donors to submit unique data. Virtuous Giving is best utilized with Virtuous Payments as they were designed to be used in tandem. You may only utilize one Virtuous Payments powered by Stripe account at any given time.

Legacy RaiseDonors

Legacy RaiseDonors is a highly customizable online giving app. While Legacy RaiseDonors can use Virtuous Payments as a processor, it also offers the ability to use multiple processors at once. Legacy RaiseDonors offers your team the ability to create customized donation pages that include a shopping cart feature, automatic premiums, and the ability to use custom code.
While it is technically a separate app, Legacy RaiseDonors does integrate with Virtuous CRM+. Gifts are synced and bundled for import daily, just as with Virtuous Giving. Projects can optionally be synced as well, eliminating the double work of creating them on both platforms. This integration does not extend to processing credit cards manually in the Gift & Contact Import tool. Legacy RaiseDonors does offer a full virtual terminal interface to make manual processing easy and accessible for your team. You may utilize multiple Virtuous Payments powered by Stripe accounts - specifically if you would like different bank accounts used on different forms.

Virtuous Raise

The same experience is offered with Virtuous Raise and Virtuous CRM+ being a complementary pairing. Virtuous Raise offers an increased level of customization along with additional features enhancing the synergy with Virtuous CRM+. This allows additional online giving reporting, specifically reconciliation. As with Legacy RaiseDonors, you may utilize multiple Virtuous Payments powered by Stripe accounts - specifically if you would like different bank accounts used on different forms.
