How do I decide which campaign should auto-generate segments?
The campaign that hosts the communication that most of your classy donations come in through should be where these reside. If you have multiple campaigns where these might reside, you may choose to pick the one that requires no interaction from you (like when someone sets up a birthday fundraiser) or maybe you'll have one that is just for peer-to-peer fundraising.
What do I do with the other campaigns?
All campaigns that are not the default campaign will be set up so that the segment code in Virtuous matches the Campaign ID on the Classy page. Each campaign will need to be manually created and matched. Just make sure those codes match and you're ready to roll.
Do gifts come over for “all time “ once I set the integration up?
No, we're not Hermione with our own time-turner. Only gifts entered after the integration will be sent.
Where does the fundraiser's name go once it comes into Virtuous?
We have an awesome support article that goes into detail on this question (find it here- then scroll down to "create custom fields"). However, the short version is that a Fundraisers name is a custom field.
Does the new segment only get created when the first gift comes through?
Yes. Classy only sends information to Virtuous when a gift transaction is made.
Do event registrations come over as contacts or gifts?
The answer is potentially both. In Virtuous, when a gift is made, if there is not a corresponding contact, you will be prompted to create one. Any money that comes in through Classy that is sent over to Virtuous comes over as a gift. It is important to remember that they don't come over as event registrations. You would have to add them to an event in Virtuous separately.
How do I track who opts in for emails through Classy?
There isn't a way to track that info automatically in the integration because Classy only sends gift information. You would have to create a list of those that have opted in via Classy against your contacts in Virtuous.
What's the best order of operations for setting up integrations?
Best order of operations for getting rolling in Virtuous- including with integrations:
- Create Permission Groups
- Set default Permission Group
- Create Organization Groups
- Assign Contacts to Organization Groups
- Connect integrations
- Invite Users to Virtuous- assign them to Permission Groups and Organization Groups.
Can I test the integration in my sandbox?
Technically, the answer is yes. However, it is strongly discouraged. The reason for this is because the data in your sandbox is completely fake. If you sync your Classy instance with your Sandbox, you will be importing fake data into your real data, which may give your finance folks a heart attack.
