Which CRM Contact Widgets Should I Use?

Depending on your role there are some different needs that can be fulfilled with Contact Widgets - our widgets are just so versatile it makes it tricky for us to recommend just one! Finance users may want to keep up with giving overviews or project success. Marketing users may be more interested in seeing which outbound channels are performing best or tap into some relational information. Programming users may want to dive deep into Volunteer engagement. There's something for everyone!

Below, we've laid out a guide to all of the available Contact Widgets, including notes on available customizations, and recommendations for which teams might be best served by each type. Note that when you select the Contact Widgets that are right for you, you're really picking the widgets you'd like to see for all of your Contact Records - but just like the Dashboard Widgets, each user can customize their own!

The Giving By Channel widget displays a visual graph showing the Channels, measured by dollars received, for the gifts given by this Donor. The Channels can include Direct Mail, Social Media, Email, Event, PR, Web, TV, Radio, Other.

Customizable? Yes! Users can select a specific time frame for the widget, including: Last 30 days, Last 60 days, Last 90 days, Last 365 days, This month, Last month, This year, or Last year

Interactive? You bet. Hover over any of the "wedges" on the graph to see actual totals and the specific Channel they came from

Great for: Development staff, marketing or annual fund staff

The Giving by Project widget displays the gifts given by this donor sorted by the Projects they were designated for (up to 5 Projects).

Customizable? Yes! Users can select a specific time frame for the widget, including: Last 30 days, Last 60 days, Last 90 days, Last 365 days, This month, Last month, This year, or Last year

Interactive? Not this one, but you can always pop into the Giving tab on the Contact Record to dive into the details

Great for: Leadership and development staff, missionaries or other staff raising their own support, anyone assigned to or focused on a specific project or initiative

Giving History

The Giving Overview widget provides a high-level snapshot of overall giving for this Contact Record including Life-to-date Giving measured by dollars received and amount of gifts, Single Highest Gift measured by dollars received and the date of that specific gift, and Most Recent Gift, measured by dollars received and the date of that specific gift.

Note: The statistics displayed here include ALL Gift records regardless of Gift Amount or Gift Type. This means Non-Cash Gifts with a value of $0 will also be included in the totals. 

The Passthrough Giving Overview widget provides a high-level snapshot of Passthrough Giving for this Contact Record including Life-to-date Passthrough Giving measured by dollars received and amount of gifts, Single Highest Passthrough Gift measured by dollars received and the date of that specific gift, and Most Recent Passthrough Gift, measured by dollars received and the date of that specific gift.

Note: The statistics displayed here include ALL Gift records regardless of Gift Amount or Gift Type. This means Non-Cash Gifts with a value of $0 will also be included in the totals.

The Peer To Peer Overview widget provides a high-level snapshot of Peer To Peer Giving for this Contact Record. It includes the Total Raised This Year by this Donor, the Total Raised Life To Date by this Donor, and the Total Donors that participated in Peer To Peer Giving for the initiatives attributed to this Donor Record. Put another way, it helps track the Peer To Peer/Influenced Giving for this Contact record. The Contact must be listed as the fundraiser on a peer-to-peer segment to be associated with “raised” gifts.

Great for: Development staff or anyone assigned to or focused on a specific project or initiative

The Recent Gift widget displays a list of all recent Gifts from this Contact Record, in reverse chronological order. The data displayed includes the amount, the date, and the Project designation.

The Relational Giving widget displays the high-level giving made by Contact records in this Donor's network. The People In Network is reflecting the number of relationships for this Contact record, the Giving From Network is measured by dollars received from those relationships, and the distance is set as the number of other Contact records within the displayed distance from this Contact's listed address.

Customizable? While the widget itself is not customizable, Admin Users can set the standard distance length for the entire organization in the Organizational Settings under the Contact Proximity dropdown. The options are: 5 miles, 10 miles, 25 miles, 50 miles, and 100 miles. 

Interactive? Not this one

Great for: Leadership and development staff

The Rolling Giving Comparison widget compares the total dollars gifted from this Donor over the last 12 months with the previous 12 months. Put another way, it helps track recent trends to see whether overall giving for this Contact is increasing or decreasing.

Customizable? Yes! Users can specify if they want to see just Direct Giving or Include Passthrough Giving

Interactive? Not this one

Great for: Leadership and finance team

The Volunteer Details widget displays the recent Volunteer Opportunities fulfilled by Contact Individuals on this Contact Record. The Volunteer Opportunities will include the name of the Opportunity, the Contact Individual that participated, and the number of hours they completed. 

Customizable? Yes! Users can select a specific time frame for the widget, including: Last 30 days, Last 60 days, Last 90 days, Last 365 days, This month, Last month, This year, or Last year

Interactive? Not really, outside of customizing the time frame

Great for: Leadership and the volunteer engagement team

The Volunteer Overview widget displays the Volunteer Hours fulfilled by all Contact Individuals on this Contact Record. The Volunteer Hours are reflected both by the Life-To-Date Volunteer Hours, the Year-To-Date Volunteer Hours, and the respective amount of volunteer opportunities that Contact Individuals on this Contact Record participated in.
