One of the aspects of using Virtuous CRM as your one-stop-shop is the degree of customization possible to reflect your organization's mission and branding. However, if your organization is going through the process of rebranding, there will be a few areas in Virtuous that may need your attention. This article will provide a general checklist and best practices to review the different areas of Virtuous you may need to update to reflect new branding.
Table of Contents
CRM Settings
Going through the settings and details in this section will get your overall database and core data points updated to your new brand standards.
Organization Settings
Starting with your overall database settings is a great place to start knocking out all the places your organization name may appear. Be sure to update any information that is changing alongside your rebrand.
Contact Name Settings
Depending on how your Custom Contact Name Settings are formatted, you may need to modify the First and Late Name Defaults. As a best practice, if you have a Contact record without a specific name submitted as the Primary Individual, it's recommended to format the First and Last Name of the required Individual as [Friend of ORGANIZATION NAME]
Campaign and Project Details
Review the various names you have associated with your Campaign and Project structures.
As an example, the Project used as a General Fund for Homeless No More is currently titled "Homeless No More General Fund." Updating the name of this Project to be in line with your new branding will ensure any Merge Tags being used for Marketing and Receipting will reflect your new branding.
Along the same lines, if you have any Campaign details that also reflect your previous branding, updates will be needed to bring it in line with your updated branding.
Virtuous BI
If your organization is using Virtuous BI, you must reach out to Support to update your "AllTeam" folder name. Without this update, your "AllTeam" folder may not be accessible following a database name update in your Organization Settings.
Giving and Forms Settings
When it comes to Giving Forms and the associated processes, your organization’s name might show in a few areas.
NOTE: If your EIN has changed, a new payment gateway may be required. Reach out to your Customer Success Manager to work through this process.
Donor Portal Design Settings
You'll need to update your Organization Name as it is listed in your Donor Portal. If your domain is also changing, be sure to update all domain and subdomain information in your Donor Portal Settings. You'll notice the "Subdomain" field cannot be updated in-app. To update this field, you'll need to reach out to our Support team, who can assist with adjusting your organization's name within the backend of Virtuous Giving. In addition, a name change should be submitted to your payment gateway for review.

Design and Forms Settings
To update the Design Settings for your database, navigate to Settings and select "Design Settings."
Review the various Design Settings available to customize. Update any values that are changing with your rebrand.
To efficiently update all your existing Forms at once, check the box at the bottom of the screen to "Apply design settings to Forms."
After all your changes have been entered, select "Save Settings."
Form Confirmation Emails
If you have Custom Form Confirmation Emails set to deliver in response to Forms being completed, you'll likely need to update some contents in the existing templates being used.
If you would rather create a new Custom Form Confirmation Email to replace the existing ones with your previous branding, be sure to navigate to the respective Forms to swap out the old template with the new template.

Marketing Settings
The last selection of features and templates to review is the selection of Marketing material delivered by your organization.
In summary, review the list of elements below while updating your templates.
- Organization Name
- Logo
- Fonts
- Mission Statement
- Links
- Images
To quickly and easily locate any historical branding/verbiage that needs attention, use the "CTRL/COMMAND + F" shortcut to search for specific word and phrasing to update.
Email Lists
Take some time to review the details associated with your various Email List offerings. Remember, your Email List Descriptions may be seen publicly!
Edit any relevant Email Lists to update the Name and Description and maintain all historical Subscribe and Unsubscribe data associated with those subscribers.

Email Templates
Take time to review all your existing Email Templates, what they are used for, and how they will be used moving forward. You can choose to edit existing Email Templates and update them with your new branding. Keep in mind that this will make it so all your historical statistics will be tied to the updated email template as well.
It may be beneficial to create new copies of any Email Templates you are already using to rename and update the contents. Having new versions created will help your organization keep track of marketing details before and after your rebrand.

Personalized Email Templates
The next selection of Email Templates to review are Personalized Email Templates. While there are fewer elements to address in this style of Email Template, it's worth reviewing all details and fields being used.

Receipt Templates
The last piece of the Giving puzzle is sending a Receipt. Be sure to review the various Receipt Templates you may have in motion. Updating your organization's name, logo, mission statement and more will be important to deliver high quality messaging in line with your updated branding.
Letters on Demand and Receipts on Demand Templates
