The Virtuous Raise integration with Virtuous CRM+ creates a powerful connection between your fundraising Pages and your CRM, allowing data to flow seamlessly between both systems. This bidirectional integration ensures that online Gifts flow automatically to CRM+, as well as updates to donor information, Campaigns, Projects, and Custom Fields in both platforms. Using integrated technology to maintain accurate, real-time data is a fundamental step in the Responsive Maturity Model, enabling your organization to build stronger, more personalized relationships with supporters.
Setting Up The Integration
To configure your integration, start in Virtuous Raise. Select Settings, and then navigate to Integrations under System Settings.
Next, select the CRM tab, and find the Virtuous CRM+ icon.
Toggle the Status to ON and click the yellow Connect to Virtuous CRM+ button on the right-hand side. This will redirect you to Virtuous CRM+ login, where you’ll see the option to grant Virtuous Raise access to your CRM. Select Grant Access to complete the connection.
Note: Once you've granted access to Raise, an API Key with a timestamp will automatically be created in CRM+ showing when the integration was created.
Integration Settings
Once enabled, there are several options to further configure for the sync.
-
Segment to use on Recurring Gifts: Select the default segment that will be applied to future payments made from Recurring Gifts.
- Note: If a Campaign is configured to apply its Segments to recurring gifts until that Campaign ends, the recurring schedule will respect that Campaign's segment. Otherwise, the Segment selected here will be used for subsequent recurring gifts.
- Show offline Gifts in Donor Portal: Show donor's complete giving history, including offline Gifts, in the Virtuous Raise Donor Portal.
-
Receipt Gifts on Import: Controls whether Gifts are Receipted automatically in Raise.
- When turned on: Gifts are sent to the Import Tool with a Receipt date of the transaction, and the Raise Donor Confirmation Email serves as the official tax Receipt.
- When turned off: Gifts are sent to the Import Tool without a Receipt date so Receipting can be completed in CRM+. Raise still sends a confirmation email, but it's not the official tax Receipt.
- Sync Custom Field data to Virtuous CRM+: When turned on, Custom Fields created in Virtuous Raise will be created in Virtuous CRM+ and vice-versa. Submissions with new Custom Field data are sent to the Virtuous Import tool.
-
Sync Metadata about Gifts to Virtuous via the Notes field: If turned on, Raise attaches various metadata to the Gift Note including:
- Recurring Gift ID (if applicable)
- RaiseDonors Page ID
- Virtual Terminal ID
- Transaction ID
- Payment Last 4
- Segment Code
- Last IP Address
-
Use for Email List Management: When toggled on, Raise syncs email opt-ins and subscription preferences to Virtuous CRM+ Marketing to add supporters to Email Lists. It also allows the Lists created in CRM+ to be displayed on your Raise Forms. If enabled, select a Default Email List when new donors will be added automatically.
- Note: you can only use one marketing integration for email list management at a time. If turned on, this will disable other marketing integrations you have on if any.
- Default Household Contact Type: Set the default Household Contact Type for importing into CRM+
- Default Organization Contact Type: Set the default Organization Contact Type for importing into CRM+
- Import and Sync Projects: This will allow for the one-time sync to pull Project data from your synced CRM+ for any Projects with the feature "Available Online" enabled. A confirmation message will display with the details of the sync request. To learn more about syncing Projects between Virtuous Raise and Virtuous CRM+, check out this Support Article.
It’s Synced! Now, How Does It Work?
After you’ve enabled the sync, Gifts, Segments, Projects, Custom Fields, Custom Collections, and Email subscriptions will begin to flow between Raise and CRM+. In general, the data maps as follows:
| Virtuous Raise Field | Virtuous CRM+ Field | Sync Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Donor | Contact and Individual |
The sync uses the Donor's CRM Key (External ID) to match existing records. If no match is found, a new Contact is created. Details include:
|
| Gift | Gift transaction |
Transaction details include:
|
| Recurring Gift | Recurring Gift schedule |
Schedule details include:
|
| Campaign | Campaign | Name, Description, and Goals are synced. |
| Segment | Segment | Name, Description, and Goals are synced. Linked to the parent Campaign. |
| Project Code | Project Code | |
| Raise Online Display Name | Project Name | |
| Custom Field | Contact and Individual Custom Field | Sync based on Name |
Gifts
As Gifts are received, they can be seen in real-time on the Gift Transactions page in Virtuous CRM+. Gift transactions will be bundled nightly and bundled together into an Import file.
When you import these Gifts, they will link to existing Contact Records in CRM+, or you’ll be prompted to create new Contacts. Performing either of these actions will create that link between the donor in Virtuous Raise and the Contact in Virtuous CRM+, ensuring that when you update a donor's information in either platform, the changes automatically flow to the other system.
Campaign Segments
Segments created in Raise will sync to Virtuous CRM+ under a default Campaign. For this reason, we recommend creating your Campaign structure in Virtuous CRM+ to optimize the entire Campaign structure. While the sync is bi-directional, only the Segments that you have assigned to Forms sync from Raise to CRM+. Any Segment assigned as the Default Segment on a Form or Page in Virtuous Raise will show in the associated Campaign, along with donations that occur under that Segment. Check out this article for more information on syncing Campaigns and Segments.
Origin Segments
In addition to Marketing Segments syncing from Gifts, Origin Segments will sync from Raise to CRM+ from Lead Form/Page submissions. When a Default Segment is assigned to a Lead Form in Raise, submissions will sync to the Gift and Contact Import Tool in CRM+ with the Origin Segment populated for the Contact record.
Projects
Projects will also sync between Virtuous CRM+ and Virtuous Raise bi-directionally to help ensure the details in each app mirror each other. Creating a new Project in Virtuous Raise will create a corresponding Project in Virtuous CRM+ with the following default status:
- isPublic = False
- Not Tax Deductible = True
- Enable Syncing Via Webhooks = True
We recommend adding a default Project to EVERY Page or Form. If a Form does not have a Project set as the default value and comes through the integration without ANY Project designation, the integration will create a new Project by default to fill in the Project Designation in the Gift and Contact Import tool. Learn more about Projects in Raise here.
Custom Fields and Collections
Custom Fields in Virtuous Raise sync bidirectionally with Virtuous CRM+, ensuring data consistency. Fields created in Virtuous Raise will appear in Virtuous CRM+, and vice versa, allowing changes made in one app to reflect accurately in the other. You can also sync Custom Collections from Virtuous CRM+ to Virtuous Raise Forms and Pages. Custom Collections group related fields together for capturing more complex data sets. When an Individual submits a Form with Custom Field or Custom Collection data, the fields will be sent to CRM+ with the nightly Import. Click here to learn more about Custom Field and Collections.
Email Opt Ins and Subscription Preferences
If you’ve enabled CRM+ to use for Email List management, Lists from Virtuous CRM+ will be available in your Form within the Email type of Text Component. Each Email List will display in the final Form as a checkbox, allowing site visitors to select as many as they would like. These subscription preferences will sync to CRM+ marketing with the nightly Import adding the Individuals to your Email List. Click here to learn more about adding email opt ins to your Form.
Note: You are only able to use one marketing integration with Raise. If your organization uses both CRM+ and MailChimp or Active Campaign, enabling this toggle will disable any other marketing integrations in Raise. To learn more about about those marketing integrations:
