Letters on Demand allows your team to create personalized letters, postcards, and Receipts to be sent automatically to your supporters. This means you can automatically send a thank you postcard to new Donors, a formal paper Receipt to a Major Donor, a birthday card for a supporter’s birthday, or a variety of other mailings you might send! Using Letters on Demand is a powerful way to strengthen relationships with your supporters without increasing demands on your staff's time.
Once your organization has contracted to use Letters on Demand (LOD), your Virtuous CRM+ Admin will need to configure it for your organization. Learn how to configure LOD below.
Important Notes
- Letters on Demand postcards and letters are used in conjunction with Automation Workflows. This means that letters and postcards will be sent to the Contacts and Individuals who are enrolled in your Workflows. In general, LOD is primarily designed for targeted communications and not meant to be utilized with mass mailings. To prevent unexpected costs, there is a default sending limit of 1,000 mailings per month. If you anticipate exceeding this limit with a large mailing, please contact your Customer Success Manager or the Virtuous Support Team to increase your organization’s rate limit.
- Receipts on Demand uses the Receipting Tool but does require a subscription to Letters on Demand to automatically send paper Receipts. If you do not have this feature included in your contract, contact the Virtuous team to upgrade your account.
- The Receipts on Demand feature that is available alongside Letters and Postcards is only available for Single Gift Receipts.
- Letters on Demand, including Receipts on Demand, is only available to send mailings to US addresses. Any addresses outside of the US will not be sent Postcards, Letters, or Receipts.
Navigate to Marketing using the left hand menu. Then, select "Letters on Demand."
On the Letters on Demand screen, select "Settings" from the Actions dropdown in the top right corner.
This will bring up a new form where you can enter the name and address for your organization. This information will automatically be used for the return address on all Letters and Postcards.
Once you have entered all of the necessary information, click on "Update Settings" to return to the Settings screen.
Now you're all set! You can start creating Letters and Postcards for your organization.
