In Virtuous, the Campaign structure has three layers, with the second being "Campaign Communication". This layer allows you to track the different activities, communications, and asks that encompass a complete Campaign. There are four standard Communication Types that allow you to better define exactly what the purpose of the Communication is.
Using Communication Types in a uniform manner will allow your team to easily identify trends like your bi-monthly 'Getting to Know You' Marketing Email has a much bigger impact on incoming Gifts in comparison to your standard first of the month marketing appeal.
- Unspecified: A Communication that isn't specifically a direct appeal and may not be completely relationship focused.
- Appeal: An specific appeal is made.
- Receipt: Allows for receipt segment tracking.
- Relationship Building: No specific appeal is made, the general focus is on building and maintaining relationships with your donors.
Create a Custom Communication Type
Creating a Custom Communication Type can help you build even more structure around the ways your team connects with donors and listening to their actions in response to each Type. =
To create a Custom Communication Type, navigate to Settings by selecting the gear icon available in the left side menu. Next, select "Data Customization".
From the available options, select "Communication Types".
On the next page, select "Create a Communication Type".
Next, enter the name of your new Communication Type. Once you have entered the appropriate details, select "Save Communication Type" to complete the process.
Once it's saved, your Custom Communication Type will be available to use when creating or editing a Campaign Communication!
